IN A SMALL OFFICE IN DORSET
Before anyone had even thought of the phrase ‘start-up’ Taylor Made Designs was born in 1993.
Our Founder and MD James, who saw a need for quality branded uniform and workwear, started Taylor Made Designs from a small rented office in Bournemouth, from where he sold to local businesses.
This soon snowballed from local pubs to the breweries that owned them. Plus many other local businesses. Two of the first main contracts he secured were with GLL and Hill House School, which was then part of The Hesley Group (now Cambian) both of whom are still our clients today, and rather poetically have grown with us. This was all thanks to his drive and enthusiasm.
James’s brother Ed joined the business in 1998 and together TMD grew rapidly.
We definitely offer our clients something different. Both our MDs James and Ed are still very much customer facing, they love what they do, and it shows. James enjoys the Leisure and Health & Fitness sectors and Ed the Marine side, spending so much time around those incredible Superyachts is really hard work, honestly.
We are proud to be involved in charities associated with these sectors which comes purely from James’s and Ed’s integration into these business communities.
So what started off as one, has grown into over 30. We’ve outgrown our premises three times and we’re not done yet.
We are a global business with over 25 years of knowledge, client relationships and a driving force behind us.

Fast, efficient & well managed service
Taylor Made Designs provide a full ‘end-to-end’ uniform management service. From design, manufacture, storage and then fulfilment to our 125 leisure centres across the UK. The online e-store and reporting services have ensured a fast, efficient and well managed service which we have been so pleased with, we have recently extended our agreement for a further 2 years.
We want our staff to wear their uniforms with pride and for customers to easily identify staff members because of our corporate colours. We have enjoyed working with Taylor Made Designs and are very pleased with the quality and support they have provided.
