When the newly branded Sea Life London Aquarium opens its doors in April, it won’t be just the exhibits and décor that have had a makeover. The staff that welcome visitors will be dressed in new look outfits that have been specially selected to provide them with a contemporary look in easy to wear materials.
Taylor Made Designs have been working hard behind the scenes with Merlin Entertainments Group, the owners of Sea Life London Aquarium, to find the right solution for managers and operational staff.
“It is always our policy to visit our clients where we can so we can talk to them and understand exactly what they are and what they are about,” says Ed Taylor. “Only when we understand the client and how the clothing will be used in situ, can we come up with suggestions that match their requirements and budget.”
The new Sea Life London Aquarium will include thousands of marine creatures in exciting themed settings with a stunning glass tunnel tropical walkway and a nerve testing shark finale. Any clothing had to ensure the staff looked professional and yet suited the exciting new venue.
“After visiting the venue and holding discussions with the staff we sourced amongst other garments some excellent soft shell jackets for the operational staff,” says Taylor. “The jackets are made of 96% polyester and 4% elastane and whilst lightweight and wind resistant, it was important that these jackets had a water repellent finish. They are just that little bit more appropriate for Sea Life London Aquarium than fleeces.”
Other clothing provided by Taylor Made Designs are the management suits, with shirts and ties for the men and blouses and scarves for the women, as well as workwear and much needed wellington boots.
